Hund (card game)
Card game
Hund is a shedding and beating trick-taking card game that originated in the German region of Silesia and is played by four people with a standard fifty-two card French deck, no jokers included. Players move clockwise, and the goal is to be first to discard every card from hand; whoever remains holding cards when play ends loses and is branded the Hund, or dog, the name the game takes. The player holding the club two must open the first trick, and afterward each player in turn contributes a defensive card that must match or beat the card already led before adding a second, offensive card of their own. Once the queen of clubs finally falls, the player who plays it claims clubs as a personal trump suit, and the remaining players receive spades, hearts and diamonds as their own individual trumps in clockwise order, so that from that point every player is chasing a different trump suit at once.
