Hole.io

Mobile arcade game

Hole.io is a 2018 mobile game created by the French studio Voodoo for Android and iOS devices, later ported to web browsers and to the Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows and Nintendo Switch platforms. It combines physics-based puzzle mechanics with battle royale style competition: the player controls a growing hole that moves around a small city map, swallowing vehicles, furniture, pedestrians and eventually entire buildings to increase in size faster than opposing holes. Sessions are short, typically lasting around two minutes, and the game is built around simple touch controls with no on-screen buttons. Following its 2018 release, Hole.io reached the top of the free-app charts on both the Apple App Store and Google Play, and Voodoo continued to support it with new maps and cosmetic items. Critics generally praised the game's addictive simplicity, though some described it as a close clone of the earlier independent game Donut County, and the game was also criticized for presenting matches as multiplayer contests when opponents are often computer-controlled.
