High-Bid is a board game about buying and selling collectible items at auction, published in 1963 by 3M and designed by Larry and Pearl Winters. Players try to complete collections of rare items and make money by trading with other collectors. Items are acquired through auction, and items in a player's hand can be sold to other players for a value set by a die roll, anywhere from 25 percent to 100 percent of the item's theoretical value. In the 3M editions the first player to reach 5000 dollars in completed sets and cash won, and 3M issued new editions through 1975. Avalon Hill then acquired the game, raised the winning target to 7500 dollars, and republished it as The Collector in 1977 and as Auction in 1989, while a Swedish edition appeared in 1989. Reviewers were lukewarm, and the Avalon Hill edition was reported not to have sold well.
