Guild Wars 2

Guild Wars 2 is a free-to-play massively multiplayer online role-playing game developed by ArenaNet and published by NCSoft, released for Windows on August 28, 2012. Set in the fantasy world of Tyria, the game continues the story begun in the original Guild Wars, released in 2005, following the reformation of Destiny's Edge, a disbanded guild that once fought the Elder Dragons, immense entities that have seized control over much of Tyria since the first game. The narrative arc concerning the Elder Dragons concludes in the game's third expansion, End of Dragons, released in 2023. Guild Wars 2 takes place in a persistent open world where players explore, complete story content largely delivered through instanced environments, and participate in a dynamic event system that the game uses in place of traditional static questing, letting the state of the world shift in response to player actions rather than repeating a fixed quest script.
