Golf (card game)

Golf, also known by regional names including Polish Polka, Polish Poker, Turtle, Hara Kiri and Crazy Nines, is a card game in which players try to finish with the lowest possible score, echoing the sport of golf after which it is named. Each player arranges a grid of face-down cards and tries to improve their hand by swapping in lower value cards drawn from a stock or discard pile, since high cards and unmatched cards count heavily against a player's total. A single standard 52-card deck serves two or three players, while four or more players typically use two decks shuffled together for 104 cards. Play proceeds across a set number of rounds, traditionally nine and called holes in reference to a golf course, with each player's card values tallied at the end of every round. The player with the lowest cumulative score after all rounds are complete is declared the winner.
