Giganten (board game)

Board Game

Giganten, also released under the title Dinosaures Giganti, is a two-player board game designed by Herbert Pinthus and first published in 1981 by the Belgian games company Carlit. It borrows its core capture mechanic from Stratego, in which each player's pieces carry hidden ranks unknown to the opponent, but resets that framework in a prehistoric setting where the pieces represent dinosaurs and other prehistoric reptiles of differing strength. Two editions of the game were produced. A typical game runs about thirty minutes and is built around gradually revealing an opponent's hidden forces through combat while protecting one's own strongest pieces, the same tension that defines its parent design but recast through the game's prehistoric theme and artwork.
