Gammarauders

Board wargame

Gammarauders is a post-apocalyptic board wargame designed by Jeff Grubb, developed by Allen Varney and published by TSR in 1987, set in a future ravaged by nuclear war where players control giant part-animal, part-machine creatures called bioborgs. Three to six players each choose a bioborg and join one of six themed alliances, ranging from the Crimson Moon to the Rayzors, then scavenge across twelve modular hex-grid boards for scarce energy pods and cards that strengthen their character on the way to attacking rival fortresses. A game is won by destroying enemy bases, two of them in a three-player game and three in a game of four to six, and the boxed set supplied a twelve-page rulebook, a twenty-page world guide, character sheets, tokens and a card deck. The game's artwork, by illustrators including Jeff Easley and Larry Elmore, carried over into an associated comic book series DC Comics published from 1988 to 1989.
