Rat-a-Tat Cat

Matching and Shedding Card Games

Rat-a-Tat Cat is a memory card game designed by Monty and Ann Stambler and published by Gamewright, first released in 1995. Each player holds a small hand of number cards laid face down, memorizing their values at the start of play, then uses draw and swap turns and special action cards to lower their own hidden total while trying to forget or confuse what their opponents hold. The game won a Mensa Select award in 1996 for combining a simple ruleset with real strategic memory play, and it has been described in the press as playing like a child-friendly version of poker, built around bluffing and recall rather than card ranks alone.
