Friedrich is a strategy board game about the Seven Years War, named after Frederick the Second of Prussia, known in German as Friedrich. It was designed by Richard Sivel and published in 2004 by the German publisher Histogame, with later distribution in the United States through Simmons Games and Rio Grande Games. Three to four players take the roles of the major powers of the conflict, commanding historical armies and generals as they maneuver across a map of eighteenth century Europe, with victory conditions tied to the historical political and military outcomes each power actually faced. A full game typically runs three to five hours and is recommended for players aged twelve and up; it won the prize for Best Historical Simulation from Games magazine in 2006.
