Flamecraft

Modern Hobby Strategy Games

Flamecraft is a worker-placement card game designed by Manny Vega, illustrated by Sandara Tang, and first published in 2022 by Cardboard Alchemy. Players take on the role of Flamekeepers who guide small dragons around a town of shopkeepers, helping each shop by gathering resources or enchanting it for ongoing benefits. Play uses three decks, Artisan Dragons, Enchantments, and Shops, along with a supply of tokens representing resources and reputation. On a turn a player visits one shop on the shared town board and either collects resources and a new dragon card there or spends resources to enchant that shop, after which a player may choose to activate, or fire up, every dragon they control for a burst of special abilities. Reputation accumulates as shops are helped and enchantments are triggered, and the game ends once its card decks run out, at which point whoever holds the most reputation wins. The game supports one to five players in sessions of roughly ninety minutes and is aimed at players ten and older.
