Felli is a traditional two-sided leaping game from Morocco. It was recorded from Moroccan immigrants in France, who described the game as they had played it in childhood. The board is made of two triangles joined at their apexes, with a line running through both apexes, plus a cross line that bisects the sides, giving a small network of points on which pieces stand. Each player has six pieces, set on the six points of the triangle nearest them, and the shared apex starts empty. Players take turns moving a piece one step along a line to an empty adjacent point, and a piece captures by hopping over an enemy piece to the empty point directly behind it. A piece that reaches a corner of the opponent's triangle is promoted and may then travel any distance along the lines, as a long-range piece.
