Enchanted Forest (game)

Enchanted Forest is a board game designed by Alex Randolph and Samuel Etchie, first published in Germany in 1981 by the games company Ravensburger under its original title, Sagaland. Set in a fairy-tale forest populated with hidden treasures such as a golden apple, a wishing well and a treasure chest, the game challenges players to remember the locations of treasures they glimpse beneath trees scattered across the board, then race to guide their own character through the forest to reach a treasure and deliver it correctly to a matching fairy-tale character, such as a king or princess, before their opponents can do the same. Because the locations of the treasures are hidden again after each token is moved and revealed, the game rewards careful memory and deduction over the course of play, in the tradition of memory-based board games, and it has remained popular for decades as a family game aimed particularly at children learning basic memory and deduction skills, going on to be republished under the Enchanted Forest title in English-language markets.
