Drakar och Demoner

Role-Playing Games

Drakar och Demoner, Swedish for Dragons and Demons and commonly abbreviated DoD in Sweden, is a Swedish fantasy role-playing game first published in 1982 by the game publisher Aventyrsspel, later renamed Target Games. It grew out of the Swedish recreational wargaming scene: Target Games began as an importer of wargames, and its co-founder Fredrik Malmberg, who had playtested Chaosium games in California, arranged a licence to publish Chaosium's Basic Role-Playing together with the Magic World booklet in Swedish. A second edition followed in 1984, an Expert expansion in 1985 introduced hit locations and a twenty-sided die for skill rolls, and a major revision came in 1991. Target Games issued a fifth edition called Chronopia in 1994, after which the rights passed to Paradox Entertainment and RiotMinds, who published a sixth edition in 2000 and a seventh in 2006. The later editions were translated into English as Trudvang Chronicles, Ruin Masters and Dragonbane, and Free League Publishing acquired the property in 2021.
