Dixie (board wargame)

Modern Conquest and War Games

Dixie, subtitled The Second War Between the States, is an alternate-history board wargame released in 1976 by Simulations Publications Inc and designed by Redmond A. Simonsen. It imagines a scenario in which the Confederacy won independence during the American Civil War, and then fought a second war against the North during the 1930s. The game is a two-player brigade and division level wargame, using brigade-scale military units in tactical combat across the imagined conflict. It is noted in wargame design history for introducing Administration Points, a resource-management mechanic that regulated the actions a player could take on a given turn; this system went on to influence the design of later wargames that needed to model logistics and command capacity rather than combat strength alone.
