Stormbringer (role-playing game)

Role-Playing Games

Stormbringer is a fantasy tabletop role-playing game published under license by Chaosium. It is based on the Elric of Melnibone books by Michael Moorcock, and the game takes its title from the name of Elric's sword, Stormbringer, although one edition of the game was published under the name Elric!. Its rules are built on Basic Role-Playing, the percentile-dice system that Chaosium used across several of its games, so a player resolves most actions by rolling dice against a percentage chance. Because it draws on a licensed body of fantasy fiction, the game belongs to the family of tabletop role-playing games adapted from novels, where players take on characters in the setting of a published literary world rather than an invented one.
