Deathwatch (role-playing game)

Role-Playing Games

Deathwatch is a role-playing game published in 2010 by Fantasy Flight Games, set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe and using the Warhammer 40,000 Roleplay system. Player characters are loyalist Space Marines, surgically and biologically enhanced super soldiers recruited from their home Chapters to serve in squads of the Deathwatch, a military arm of the Inquisition whose role is to fight especially dangerous heretics and alien lifeforms. The game has a martial focus rather than complex intrigue. Characters follow career paths that include Apothecary, Assault Marine, Devastator Marine, Librarian, Tactical Marine and Techmarine, and the squad leader is either chosen by a player or played by the game master as a non-player character. The line includes a core rulebook with an adventure, a game master's kit, adventure anthologies and sourcebooks such as Rites of Battle and Mark of the Xenos. The default setting is the Jericho Reach sector, covered in The Achilus Assault.
