Citadels (card game)

Modern Hobby Strategy Games

Citadels is a German-style card game designed by Bruno Faidutti. It was first published in French as Citadelles by MultiSim in 2000, with illustrations by Julien Delval, Florence Magnin and Jean-Louis Mourier and graphic design by Cyrille Daujean for the first edition. A German edition followed under the title Ohne Furcht und Adel, which means Without Fear or Nobility. The game was a finalist for the 2000 Spiel des Jahres award. The Dutch version, titled Machiavelli, won the Dutch game prize, the Nederlandse spellenprijs, in 2001. The lead of the source article does not describe the rules, so this entry records only its design, publication and award history.
