Cassino (card game)

Cassino, also spelled Casino, is an English card game for two to four players, best with two, played with a standard fifty-two card pack. It belongs to the fishing family of card games, in which players try to capture cards laid face up on the table by matching or combining values with a card from their hand, or by building combinations that only they can later capture; players score points for collecting the most cards, the most spades, individual aces and specific high-value captures. First recorded in England in 1792, Cassino is played in slightly varying forms around the world under names including Wippen, Basra, Tablanette and Pasur, and is noted as the only fishing-family game to have become established in the English-speaking world.
