Atmosfear (series)

Party and Word Games

Atmosfear, known as Nightmare in some regions, is an Australian horror-themed video board game series created by designers Brett Clements and Phillip Tanner and first released in 1991. The original game paired a videocassette host with a physical board and dice, and quickly became a commercial success, with the two millionth copy sold within two years of launch. The series has been refreshed and reissued many times since, including a 1995 relaunch called The Harbingers that became a top ten seller in the United States and United Kingdom, a 2004 revival called The Gatekeeper that replaced the video cassette with a DVD carrying a randomizer feature so each playthrough differs, and a 2006 sequel called Khufu the Mummy. A 2019 edition replaced the DVD with a companion app, and a thirtieth anniversary edition was crowdfunded through Kickstarter in 2021.
