Armenian draughts, also called Tama, is a variant of draughts, or checkers, played in Armenia, with rules similar to those of Dama. Unlike Dama it allows diagonal movement. It is played on an 8 by 8 board with sixteen men on each side, lined up in the second and third rows for one player and the sixth and seventh rows for the other. Players alternate turns, and a man that reaches the opposite side of the board is crowned a king. A man may move forward, straight ahead or diagonally, or sideways to an empty orthogonally adjacent field, and it captures an adjacent opponent's man by leaping over it forward or sideways, never backward or diagonally. Kings move like a chess queen and capture by jumping a piece and landing on any open field beyond it, though not diagonally. Multiple captures are allowed and are required where possible.
