Cadillacs and Dinosaurs (role-playing game)

Role-Playing Games

Cadillacs and Dinosaurs: The Roleplaying Game is a near-future post-apocalyptic tabletop role-playing game published by Game Designers' Workshop in 1990. It is based on Mark Schultz's underground comic book Xenozoic Tales, set about 450 years ahead in a world where creatures from every era of history roam the Earth, and players take the roles of humans trying to survive sabre-tooth tigers, dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures. The 144-page softcover book was written by Frank Chadwick and uses the second edition rules of GDW's own Twilight: 2000. Characters have six attributes, and skills rated from 1 to 10 are rolled against with a ten-sided die. A sample adventure, The Known World, is included. Reviewers praised the setting material and the art but found the combat rules too complex for the pulp tone.
