Road trip bingo

Road trip bingo is a variant of bingo adapted for long car journeys, played by marking off a grid of common roadside sights as they are spotted from the vehicle rather than by drawing numbered balls. Commercial versions are typically sold as a small board with sliding panels that cover each square, letting a player slide a panel aside once they spot the matching sight, such as a particular kind of road sign, vehicle or landmark. Homemade versions are just as common and usually take the form of a hand-drawn five-by-five grid that a passenger fills in or crosses off with a pen as the trip progresses. Because the sights themselves arrive in an order nobody at the table controls, the game keeps the chance-driven structure of standard bingo, matching a fixed card against events nobody can predict, while replacing bingo's called numbers with the passing scenery of the road itself.
