Chuck-a-luck

Chuck-a-luck, also known as birdcage or sweat rag, is a game of chance played with three dice, traditionally spun inside a wire cage shaped like an hourglass or bird cage rather than simply thrown. It is derived from the older dice game grand hazard, and along with grand hazard is considered a variant of sic bo, a game of chance that remains a fixture of modern casinos, though chuck-a-luck itself functions more as a carnival or fairground game than as a standard casino offering today. Players bet on which numbers will come up on the dice when the cage is spun, with payouts scaled to the odds of a given combination appearing, and because the house retains a built-in mathematical edge, the game has also been used informally as a fundraising activity at charity events and fairs rather than as a serious gambling proposition.
