Canadian Monopoly is the Canadian regional edition of the Monopoly real-estate trading board game, first released in 1982 as one of many licensed editions Parker Brothers produced for individual countries. The board replaces the original game's Atlantic City properties with major streets and destinations from cities across Canada, from St. John's to Vancouver, and reflects the country's bilingual character by printing the board and packaging in both English and French. The edition also swaps in Canadian railroads in place of the standard game's American railroad properties. Monopoly as a whole has been licensed in 103 countries and printed in 37 languages, and the Canadian edition sits alongside other North American regional versions, including editions for Mexico, Costa Rica, Guatemala and Panama, that keep the original trading and property-acquisition rules intact while localizing the board to each region's own geography.
