The World Series of Poker Europe, often shortened to WSOPE, was the first expansion of World Series of Poker branded tournaments outside the United States. Before it, participants had to travel to Las Vegas to compete in the main World Series of Poker events, which were the only ones to award bracelets, even though circuit events were held elsewhere. The inaugural WSOPE in 2007 marked the first time a World Series of Poker bracelet was awarded outside Las Vegas. From its start to the 2013 tournament, players from 19 countries won bracelets, with the United States, France, the United Kingdom and Denmark among the most frequent.
