The FIFA U-20 World Cup is the world championship of men's youth association football, held every two years for national teams of FIFA members with players up to the age of 20. The first tournament was staged in 1977 in Tunisia under the name FIFA World Youth Championship, which it kept until 2005, and the name changed to its present form in 2007. FIFA bills it as the tournament of tomorrow's superstars, and past winners of the official player of the tournament award include Diego Maradona, Lionel Messi and Paul Pogba, while Erling Haaland was top scorer at the 2019 edition. The finals field has 24 teams. Morocco are the reigning champions after winning their first title at the 2025 tournament in Chile, and Argentina have won the most titles with six.
