Central American and Caribbean Games

Multi-Sport Games

The Central American and Caribbean Games, known as the CAC Games, are a regional multi-sport event held every four years, usually in the year midway between Summer Olympics. They are contested by 32 countries and five territories in Central America and the Caribbean, including Mexico and the South American countries of Colombia, Guyana, Suriname and Venezuela, and are overseen by Centro Caribe Sports. The games are a step between the sub-regional games held the first year after an Olympics and the Pan American Games held the year before the next Olympics. They are the oldest continuing regional games in the world, and only the Olympics have run longer. Mexico, Cuba and Guatemala were the three countries at the first games, which were then called the Central American Games, and the name was widened in 1935 as participation grew. The most recent games were held mainly in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, in 2026.
