Steed Claude Malbranque, born on 6 January 1980, is a retired professional association footballer who mainly played as a winger or attacking midfielder and, during his second spell at Lyon, also as a central midfielder. He was born in Belgium but represented France at international level, and he is recorded as having turned down a chance to play for Belgium while still hoping for a call from the full French side. He came through the Lyon youth academy between 1995 and 1997, made his professional debut in February 1998 against Montpellier at the age of 18 and played 96 games for the club. In 2001 he moved to England and joined Fulham, where he spent five years, played 211 games and scored 44 goals, and he later played for Tottenham Hotspur and Sunderland. He went back to France with Saint-Étienne in 2011 and rejoined Lyon in 2012. At Tottenham he became one of 17 players to manage 50 games in a single season.
