Marlon King is a former professional footballer who played as a striker, born on 26 April 1980 in south London. He began in non-League football with Dulwich Hamlet and went on to play for Barnet, Gillingham, Nottingham Forest, Leeds United, Watford, Wigan Athletic, Hull City, Middlesbrough, Coventry City and Birmingham City. His best season came at Watford in 2005-06, when he was the Championship top scorer with 21 goals, was named the club player of the season and helped win promotion to the Premier League, where he scored on his debut in the competition. He later also played and scored for the Jamaica national team. Injuries in 2012-13 kept him from playing again, and he left Birmingham in August 2013. His career was also marked by several criminal convictions and prison sentences, which led Wigan to cancel his contract.
