Jim Clark was a Scottish racing driver who lived from 1936 to 1968 and competed in Formula One from 1960 to 1968, winning the World Drivers Championship in 1963 and 1965, both driving for Lotus. At the time of his death he held the records for most race wins, 25, most pole positions, 33, and most fastest laps, 28. He won seven Grand Prix races in the 1963 season alone, a record that stood unmatched for over two decades, achieved eight Grand Slams of pole position, fastest lap and a lights-to-flag win in a single race, and in 1965 became the first non-American winner of the Indianapolis 500 in nearly five decades. He died in a crash at Hockenheim in West Germany in 1968.
