Roman Neustädter

Football Codes

Roman Petrovich Neustädter is a footballer born in Ukraine on 18 February 1988 who has moved from playing into coaching and now serves as an assistant manager with the Belgian Pro League club Westerlo. As a player he was often used as a defensive midfielder, which was his preferred position, although during his time at Schalke he mostly played as a centre back. He represented Germany at various youth levels and was capped twice by the German national team, in 2012 and 2013, before switching his allegiance to Russia in 2016. His career therefore crosses three countries: he was born in Ukraine, came through the German national set-up as a youth and then chose to play senior international football for Russia.
