Patrick Roest is a Dutch long track speed skater who specializes in the 1500m and 5000m distances. He won back to back World Junior Allround titles in 2014 and 2015 and went on to win the World Allround Speed Skating Championship three times, in 2018, 2019 and 2020, and he ranks second on the adelskalender, the all time ranking of skaters by personal best times. At the Olympics he won silver in the 1500m in 2018 and bronze in the team pursuit, then silver in both the 5000m and 10000m at the 2022 Beijing Games. He held the world record for the allround big combination score from March 2019 until Jordan Stolz surpassed it in 2024, and he did not qualify for the 2026 Winter Olympics, citing mental fatigue from competition.
