What does Olympedia say about doping and Kristin Otto?
Olympedia reports she was given doping substances under East Germany's state program and lost some honors; it also records that she always denied taking any.
Olympedia states that after German re-unification it became known that Otto was given doping substances as part of the state prescribed doping program in East Germany. It says she was stripped of her title as 1988 European Swimmer of the Year because of her doping history, and that in 2013 the US journal Swimming World dismissed her from its World Swimmer of the Year awards for 1984, 1986 and 1988. Olympedia also records that Otto always denied having taken any doping substances. It adds that she was named sportswoman of the year in the former East Germany in 1988 and 1989 and was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame in 1993.
