FAQs

Is Diana Nyad's Cuba to Florida swim officially recognized?

No. The World Open Water Swimming Association denied ratification and Guinness World Records revoked its certification.

No. Her 2013 crossing from Cuba to Florida was not conducted under the supervision of an organized sporting association. The World Open Water Swimming Association later denied ratification for several reasons, including incomplete observer logs with a nine-hour undocumented gap in observations. Guinness World Records had initially certified the achievement but revoked its certification after considering the association's findings.
