Aron Nimzowitsch was a Russian-born Danish chess player and writer, born on 7 November 1886 and died on 16 March 1935. In the late 1920s he was one of the best chess players in the world. He was the foremost figure among the hypermoderns and wrote a very influential book on chess theory, My System, published in the years 1925 to 1927. His later work Chess Praxis, first published in Germany in 1929, was bought by the pre-teen future World Champion Tigran Petrosian and had a great influence on his development as a player. He is remembered as much for his ideas as for his results.
