Jóhann Berg Guðmundsson, born on 27 October 1990 in Reykjavík, is an Icelandic former professional footballer, a versatile player who could be deployed as a defensive midfielder, central midfielder, right midfielder, attacking midfielder or winger. He spent time in the youth teams of Chelsea and Fulham while his family lived in London, returned to Iceland in 2008 to join his boyhood club Breiðablik, and moved to the Dutch club AZ on 28 January 2009 on a five-year contract.
