Reinhold Münzenberg was a German footballer, born on 25 January 1909 in Walheim, now part of Aachen, who died in Aachen on 25 June 1986. Nicknamed Der Eiserne, meaning made of iron, he was an institution in the football scene of Aachen and played for the local club Alemannia Aachen for most of his life, including after the Second World War in the western division of the Oberliga. A typical centre-half, charged with stopping the opposing centre forward, he was known as an excellent header of the ball with a very hard kick. He won 41 caps for Germany between 1930 and 1939, eight of them as captain, played in the third-place match of the 1934 World Cup against Austria, was in the squad for the 1938 World Cup without appearing, and took part in the football tournament of the 1936 Berlin Olympics. After the war he ran a contracting business and served as president of Alemannia Aachen from 1974 to 1976.
