Pablo Pol Amat Escude is a Spanish retired field hockey striker, born June 18, 1978, in Barcelona, Catalonia, who made his international debut at age 17 in 1995 and competed at five Olympic Games (1996, 2000, 2004, 2008 and 2012). He won Olympic silver medals at the 1996 Atlanta and 2008 Beijing Games, claimed his first major title at the 2004 Champions Trophy in Lahore, scored two goals in under a minute during the 2005 European Nations Cup final to secure a 4-2 win over the Netherlands, and scored a goal at the 2006 World Cup that helped Spain claim bronze. He was named World Hockey Player of the Year in 2008, the first Spaniard to win the award.
