Michael Green is a former German field hockey defender, born May 5, 1972, in Braunschweig, West Germany, who played more than 260 international matches for the German national team. His achievements include a World Cup gold medal in 2002, three European Championship titles (1995, 1999, 2003), three Champions Trophy victories (1995, 1997, 2001), and two Summer Olympics appearances (1996 and 2000). He was named FIH Player of the Year in 2002, and pursued a dual career working as a surgeon while competing at the elite level.
