Steven Lopez is an American taekwondo competitor born in New York City to Nicaraguan immigrant parents, who learned the sport from his father and older brother Jean in a family garage. He won Olympic gold in 2000 and 2004 and bronze in 2008, and became the first taekwondo athlete to win five World Championship titles. He competed at five Olympic Games between 2000 and 2016, and at the 2008 Beijing Games he competed alongside his siblings Mark and Diana, the first trio of siblings on one United States Olympic team since 1904.
