Sailor Roberts

Bryan W. "Sailor" Roberts was an American professional poker player, born on 7 March 1931 and died on 23 June 1995. Before turning professional he was a rounder who traveled the country looking for games with Doyle Brunson and Amarillo Slim, and he was also a renowned contract bridge player. He took part in the first World Series of Poker in 1970, won his first bracelet in the 1974 Deuce to Seven Draw event, and won the 1975 Main Event for his second and final bracelet and 210,000 dollars. He earned his nickname through service in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame in 2012, after his death from cirrhosis caused by hepatitis.
