Crandell Addington

Crandell Addington (2 June 1938 to 14 April 2024) was an American businessman and poker player, best known as one of the founders of the World Series of Poker and a member of the Poker Hall of Fame. Nicknamed Dandy because he was always well dressed, he was a regular on the Texas poker circuit in the 1960s and won the Texas Gamblers Convention in Reno, Nevada in 1969, where the idea for the World Series of Poker was conceived. He played in the first World Series in 1970 and made the Main Event final table almost every year from 1972 to 1979, a record seven final table appearances, finishing second in 1974 to Johnny Moss and in 1978 to Bobby Baldwin. He left professional poker in the 1980s for a business career in chemicals and oil and gas, and later led Phoenix Biotechnology.
