Antonio Esfandiari, nicknamed The Magician, is an Iranian-American professional poker player and former stage magician, born Amir Esfandiary on December 8, 1978, in Tehran, who immigrated to San Jose, California at age nine. He has won two World Poker Tour championships and three World Series of Poker bracelets, and in 2012 he won the Big One for One Drop, a one million dollar buy-in tournament, for a payout of 18,346,673 dollars, the second largest single payout in tournament poker history at the time. He adopted the stage name Antonio at 19 to pursue magic professionally before transitioning to poker after being invited to a Texas hold 'em game while performing, and was formerly ranked number one on the all-time tournament poker winnings list before Daniel Negreanu surpassed him.
