Hossein Ensan

Hossein Ensan was born on May 22, 1964, in Ahwaz, Iran, and immigrated to Germany in 1989 at the age of twenty five, where he studied civil engineering at the University of Munster. He worked as a taxi driver and painter before starting his own taxi business in 2002, and did not take up poker seriously until his late thirties. In 2019, at age 55, Ensan won the World Series of Poker Main Event, defeating Dario Sammartino heads up to claim the ten million dollar first prize and becoming the second German ever to win the title after Pius Heinz in 2011. His victory was notable for the discipline and patience he brought to the final table after decades away from any competitive card game.
