John Gale (poker player)

John Gale (13 December 1953 to 18 November 2019) was an English professional poker player based in Bushey, Hertfordshire. He began playing Texas hold 'em in mid-2004, qualified through an online satellite for the 2005 PokerStars Caribbean Poker Adventure on the World Poker Tour, and won it in his first major live tournament for a first prize of 890,600 dollars. He sold his management consultancy to play poker full time. At the World Series of Poker he took second place in a 2005 pot limit hold 'em event, won a bracelet in 2006 in a 2,500 dollar pot limit hold 'em event and a second in 2015 in a turbo no limit event. He died on 18 November 2019, aged 65.
