Dan Jansen is a retired American speed skater who won gold in the 1,000 meters at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, setting a world record, in his final Olympic race after falling in both his events at each of the 1988 and 1992 Games. He was a two time World Sprint Champion, in 1988 and 1994, set eight career world records, received the 1994 James E. Sullivan Award, and was inducted into the United States Olympic Hall of Fame in 2004.
