Magdalena Neuner is a German former biathlete born February 9, 1987, in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, who won two gold medals at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics in the pursuit and mass start events. She is the most successful woman in the history of the Biathlon World Championships with 12 gold medals across six championships, became the youngest overall Biathlon World Cup winner ever at age 21, and won three overall World Cup titles and 34 World Cup races before retiring in March 2012 at age 25, citing a loss of motivation and a wish for a normal life.
