Lee Sang-hwa is a South Korean retired speed skater specializing in sprint distances, born February 25, 1989, in Seoul. She won back to back Olympic gold medals in the 500 metres at the 2010 Vancouver and 2014 Sochi Games, becoming the first Asian speed skater to win that event at the Olympics, and took silver at the 2018 Pyeongchang Games as one of the host nation most prominent athletes. She competed at four Winter Olympics between 2006 and 2018 before retiring in 2019, remembered as the fastest woman in the history of the 500 metre sprint.
