Yang Yang is a Chinese short track speed skater, born in 1976, who won China first ever Winter Olympic gold medals at the 2002 Salt Lake City Games. She took gold in both the 500 metre and 1,000 metre individual events and shared silver in the relay, becoming the first short track skater from any country to win multiple individual golds at one Winter Olympics. She is distinct from another Chinese short track skater of the same name, born in 1977 and commonly distinguished as Yang Yang (S), who also competed at the 1994, 1998 and 2002 Winter Olympics.
