Irina Eduardovna Slutskaya is a Russian former figure skater, born in 1979 in Moscow, widely regarded as one of the most accomplished ladies' singles skaters in Russian and European history. She won the World Figure Skating Championships twice, in 2002 and 2005, and holds a record seven European Championship titles, won in 1996, 1997, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2005 and 2006, in addition to Olympic silver at the 2002 Salt Lake City Games and bronze at the 2006 Turin Games. She was the first female skater to land a triple lutz-triple loop combination in competition and popularized a trademark variation of the Biellmann spin performed with a foot change.
